The city of Boscobel, Wisconsin has ten public parks, including 30-acre Kronshage Park. The Olympic-size swimming pool, a basketball court, a volleyball court, five tennis courts, five shelters, and many picnic tables and outdoor grills are available for public use. There is a $25 fee to reserve use of park shelters (Gene Larsen Memorial Shelter is $50) for private affairs such as family reunions. Contact the city clerk’s office at 608-375-5001 to reserve a shelter. Hickory Grove Golf Course, just eight miles south on Highway 61, is also open to the public.
Summer recreation programs are available for people of all ages. Youth activities include softball, baseball, flag football, library story hour, and swimming lessons. Volleyball, men’s softball, co-ed badminton, swim lessons and water aerobics are available for the adults. For those who enjoy the water, a recreation area on the banks of the Wisconsin River offers picnic tables, fishing, and access to the river by an asphalt landing. The area also has restrooms, a telephone, and ample parking. Some of the best canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing in the state are here on the lower Wisconsin River. The scenic bluffs, woodland, and sand beaches make for a memorable day on the river. Resident / Non-Resident
Youth programs are open to all students living in the Boscobel School District. Resident cost will be charged for youth that reside within the city limits of the City of Boscobel. Non-resident cost will be charged to all youth not residing within the City limits (townships and other communities). Adult programs have different residency requirements and costs depending on the program.
The Boscobel Recreation Department DOES NOT PROVIDE individual accidental liability insurance. Participants are responsible for injuries which are incidental to the activity.
