Besides the regularly scheduled activities, we also offer guest speakers, musical entertainment, monthly birthday parties, holiday and theme parties, bus trips, annual variety show, monthly afternoon bingo parties with prizes, health screenings, exercise classes, games, Christmas choir, and Easter choir. Some of the craft instruction we have offered in the past include bead working, rosemaling, watercolor painting, scrapbooking, cake decorating, etc.
For the most up-to-date activity schedule, please refer to the weekly Tuffley Senior Center column in the Boscobel Dial newspaper.
We also have a computer with internet access, cable television, a VCR, piano, organ, copy machine, games, books, puzzles, magazines and literature on many current senior issues.
Do you have a special talent? Would you be interested in volunteering your time playing music or teaching a class of interest to seniors, or is there some activity that you would like to participate in that is not currently offered? Please call Ellen at 608-375-5980. We are always open to new ideas and welcome your input.
Also located at the Tuffley Senior Center is the Boscobel Senior Dining Site, which is one of many meal sites around the county operated by the Grant County Center on Aging. It is open to anyone 60 or over and the spouse of that person, regardless of spouse's age. Meals are served Monday through Friday at noon.
The purpose of meal sites is to not only provide meals and services, but also outreach and socialization to seniors. The nutrition program contributes significantly to helping especially the older seniors remain in their homes. It contributes greatly to helping all seniors remain healthy, active and independent in their own homes and communities.
A person 60 years and over, who is homebound by reason of illness, incapacitating disability, or is otherwise isolated, is eligible for home-delivered meal services.
Do you need weekend and/or holiday meals? We have up to 7 frozen meals a week available upon request.
If you have any questions about the nutrition program, please call Michelle at the Senior Dining Site. Call 608-375-4505 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
